Sync Error with Onpremise Mailboxes to Office365

Hi,

Doing a cutover migration from onpremise exchange 2010 to Office365. Followed the instructions here http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/ms.exch.ecp.emailmigrationwizardexchangelearnmore.aspx

Unfortuantely I am getting the following error:

Failed to update the on-premises mailbox with the target address (SMTP:****@******.onmicrosoft.com). The mail sent to the user will not reach user's hosted mailbox. The error might be due to account credentials used for migration not having enough permission to write data back into the on-premise AD. Please ensure that the account credential has Domain Admin privilege.

I've assigned the Administrator in AD and the Exchange machine full access to the mailboxes as per the guide

Does anyone have an exact list of all the permissions needed and what else I can do to resolve this issue?

I read also that MSOL_AD_Sync also needs access to Organisation Management.

Thanks,

Greg.

Hi Koray,

I have looked around, but no luck. Seems like the issue you are facing indeed is due to a code defect that is fixed with Service Pack and Update Rollups.

Let us know when you have upgraded the on-prem Exchange and tried migrating data again.

Best regards,

Jesper Ståhle

It was my understanding I had to stand up a 2010 server for the gals and free/busy to stay in sync while I'm migrating.  I don't plan to do this over a weekend.  It will probably take a couple of weeks to get this done.

Kent,

We successfully migrated our website and email from Network Solutions to Office 365. My nest question is when is it OK for us to cancel our account with Network Solutions? At this point everything is hosted on 365 correct? www.strategyexpediters.com

after doing further research on the error above, i treid with a -useridentity switch afterwards, and one of my test mailboxes. I received the following output:

Remote Move Request Fails with "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."

I just completed our Hybrid configuration last week, and mailbox moves worked fine.  Today I am unable to move mailboxes from our On-premise Exchange 2010 SP2 organization to our 365 organization.  I receive the message referenced in the subject.  I cannot think of anything that would have changed over the past few days.

I have the svc-Integrated Handler Mapping in IIS.

I have re-run the Hybrid configuration wizard.

If I try to create a new Remote Mailbox, the wizard completes successfully and the AD account is created, but no mailbox is ever created.

Hi PapaBear28,

Could you provide the Non-Delivery Report which is got by an On-Premises user trying to send mail to Cloud-Based user?

And did this Office 365 tenant upgrade from Live@Edu?

You can connect PowerShell to Exchange Online and then use the following Cmdlet to check the federation.

Get-FederationInformation -DomainName yourdomainname –verbose

Then, I would like to collect all the running result. I have sent you a private message on this. It was responded in a private message with a subject of "Information Request".

Please go to the Your details section on the right side of the community site.

Click Private messages.

Click the subject title of the response to read the message.

You can reply by using the form in that display to provide the information requested.

Thanks,

Ray Yang

Unable to change default domain

We're currently in a Hybrid configuration between our pre-existing on-premise Exchange 2010 SP2 org. and Office 365.  We've verified our existing domain in Office 365.  If I log in to the admin portal and view domains, there are two listed:

mycompany.comVerified

mycompany365.onmicrosoft.comActive

If I click MyCompany in the upper left corner, I see my company's info, and in the domain section I see:

Domain:  mycompany.com

               mycompany365.onmicrosoft.com (Default)

If I click Edit from this screen, I have a drop-down for the Default domain section, but the only option there is mycompany365.onmicrosoft.com.

Shouldn't I be able to select mycompany.com as the Default domain from this screen?

Outlook 2010 - 'Not responding' when opening public folders

Hi All,

The issue we are experiencing is that Outlook goes into "Not responding" state when accessing public folders. This only happens with our users who have upgraded to Outlook 2010. Those running Outlook 2007 do not have this issue.

Our environment:

Hybrid deployment of Exchange online with Exchange 2007 on-premise. All mailboxes are still on-premise.

I am in the process of upgrading our users to Office 2010 professional plus (through Office 365).

I've scoured the web for answers but to no avail. Is anyone experiencing the same or similar issue or have an explanation for the 'slowness'? Better yet does anyone have a solution to the issue?!

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your feedback and the information provided.
From the output of the cmdlet “Test-FederationTrust”, federation trust between on-premise Exchange server and Office 365 works well.

Based on the current situation, please restart the hybrid server and re-run the Hybrid Configuration Wizard to see if it works.

Thanks,
Claud

Cannot send email to on-premise users in hybrid environment

We're trying to set up a hybrid environment where all emails are routed through the cloud. We've changed our mx record to point at <server>.mail.eo.outlook.com, as detailed here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/wikis/exchange/514.aspx

However, some of the steps seem to be outdated, in particular Step 1 which refers to the Exchange Server Deployment Assistant. Some of the answers I'm supposed to select aren't available. Despite that, we've followed the tutorial as closely as possible.

When trying to send/receive emails we're now seeing the following behavior:

Sending to and from email accounts hosted in the cloud is find, however, sending emails to any on-premise account results in an error, in particular:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp;554 5.4.6 Hop count exceeded - possible mail loop

Remote-MTA: dns;CO9EHSMHS027.bigfish.com

X-Display-Name: Admin

So, my assumption is, the mails are received by the cloud service, sent back to the internet, and received by the cloud service again, resulting in an infinite loop. Any suggestions which configuration setting we might be missing?

Hi Kevin,

Before moving on, I would like to confirm more information.

1. As for “Hybrid deployment of Exchange online with Exchange 2007 on-premise. All mailboxes are still on-premise” do you mean you have no cloud mailbox?

2. Have you migrated mailboxes to Microsoft Office 365?

3. Please provide the detailed information about your Hybrid environment.

Thanks,

Jerry Cen

Hi Aaron,

If I do this, how will this affect mailboxes that I don't want to be ported? The plan is to no longer keep certain mailboxes going forward and convert a few to shared mailboxes?

Also, If I follow the steps for a staged migration, the import doesn't work either. It seems to me the error is permissions on the exchange server, which I have verified the Admin user has full access to the mailboxes in question.

What are the specific permissions needed and what account does Office365 use to change the targetAddress setting in Active Directory?

Greg.
